Nice and educational days in Rhode Island!
Here on the US east coast I have enjoyed a peaceful day. Today I visited Monica and John, and their family. John is American and Monika is Swedish, they invited me for dinner based on a five-minute conversation at the Newport Boat Show. Kjöttbullar was obviously on the menu, and real good it tasted too. We had a very enjoyable and pleasant evening.
Yesterday my friend David and I went out for a Sunday sail with yacht designer and builder Ted Hood and his sons. We sailed aboard the wooden boat "Robin" from 1958, the first boat he ever built. A great Bermuda Rigged sloop with fine lines and low freeboard. It was a warm, nice day with 0-2 knots of wind and opposing current, we sailed most backward and sideways. Very nice to get the sail (read: drift) with a living legend in American boatdesign. Ted is a quiet, low key kinda guy, but a very nice fellow. David was sitting with him while he drew idea sketches of boats, on the comedy strips in the Sunday newspaper.

Last weekend was also nice, then I visited the Newport Boat Show in Newport, Rhode Island. In addition to seeing many fine boats and interesting equipment stands, I was lucky enough to meet Lin and Larry Pardey, known for their voyages aboard the unmotored boats "Seraffyn" and "Taleisin" I also met writer Bob Bitchin which is also known from sailingmagazine or rather cruising lifestyle magazine "Latitudes & Attitudes".
I also met some sailors who in the future will be known from their voyages aboard the "Vicarious". Spencer and Kathleen Bailey has now made a series of five DVDs, where the first three take care of everything concerning the purchase, equipping, and preparing to sail their boat around the world.
Three educational DVD's for anyone and anyone who has a sailboat, but perhaps even more useful for people who are preparing for a long trip. In the last two DVD's you'll come along on their sail from Miami FL, along the greater Antilles and lesser Antilles strewn along the border between the Atlantic and the Caribbean.
As Spencer and Kathleen is planning to sail around the world, we will likely be able to enjoy many more exciting DVD's from "Vicarious" in the future. I can easily recommend them! http://sailvicarious.com/
